Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has a ton of secrets and treasures to uncover. None are more valuable and interesting than legendary equipment. One of these items is Odin’s spear called Gungnir. This guild will show you when, where and how you can get this item and what its special powers are!
What is Odin’s spear gungnir
Legends say that Odin’s spear was made by dwarves. Loki found out while visiting them while running an errand. Using his flattery skills, Loki manages to obtain the Spear of the Dwarves.
When can you get Gungnir at AC Valhalla
To be able to find Odin’s Spear Gungnir, you must first complete the game’s main story, including all story arcs in England.
Sigurd will ask you to return with him to Norway, in the far and cold north, to Hordafylke. I won’t reveal the details of the story here, of course. It is worth to experience it for yourself.
In Assassin’s Creed, Valhalla Odin’s Spear, Gungnir, is a very special legendary weapon.
After completing the quest “A Brother’s Guardian”, you can return to Ravensthorpe, your settlement. There, after a short cutscene, you also complete the quest “A Queit Homecoming”. At this point, you can roam the game world freely again. It’s time to get Odin’s Spear!
To complete these quests, you must be at power level 220 or higher. The last region of England before returning to Norway is for power level 250, but it becomes available much earlier. It’s up to you to decide when to commit to it and to make the story arc.
How to get Odin’s Spear Gungnir’s spear in AC Valhalla
To get Odin’s Spear Gungnir, return to Norway, to Hoirdafylke. This is a power level 280 area, but there will be no combat involved for this trip. So if you’re a little lower than that, you’ll be fine.
Note that you can visit the place earlier, but you won’t see or be able to collect Gungnir. This weapon is intended to be obtained only after completing the above-mentioned quests from the main storyline of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
As soon as you land on the shores, this is the view you would see. Start to climb the showy cliff.
When you reach the intersection, turn right. You must return to the cave where the main quest took you. Take the first left turn up the cliff. This is the large dark spot on the map (not where the marker is).
The entrance to the cave is behind the frozen lake with the three bears.
During the main quest that got you there earlier, you had to break a wall of ice. It is a safeguard. Shoot an arrow to break it again.
Keep moving. When you get to the crossroads on your right, you will see the gate that led you into the temple during the main quest earlier. It’s not firmly closed. Turn right and you will see the glowing light of Odin’s Spear, in the wall below the crack.
As you glide through the crack, you will be able to use your Focus to look at the spear ahead and above. Eivor will say, “A strange discovery! A spear like Odin’s. “Climb and take it, it’s up to you!
When you approach it, Eivor will ask you “Gungnir, is that you?” A short animation will take place when you attempt to grab it. By the way, this is the same Spear Odin used in the fight against you earlier in the main quest.
Congratulations! You are now using Odin Gungnir’s spear!
What is special about Gungnir at AC Valhalla
Like any other weapon, Odin’s Spear Gungnir can only contain three runes. From the moment you take him out of the wall, he’s in his last mythic level. You can no longer upgrade it. You can improve its stats though! Its initial statistics are as follows:
- Attack: 92
- Speed: 48
- Stun: 101
- Critical Chance: 94
- Weight: 15
The description under the name of the spear reads: “A legendary spear once used by Odin himself.” It is said that this beautiful weapon has never missed its mark.
This spear is not a “legendary” level as you might be misled. There is no higher level in the game above Mythical (at this time). It is called that, because it comes from the Legends, as I explained at the top of this guide.
What is so special and unique about this weapon is its advantage: “The range of the spear is extended by a force field”. This is clearly visible not only when you are in combat, but also when the spear is sitting on your back. A strange “force field” surrounds it even when not in use.
You can see more of Spear in action in the featured video attached at the top of this guide.
What built to use with this lance
As I have already said in several others AC Valhalla Guides I did, there is no better ultimate build in this game. The spear would fit nicely into a build that prefers bear skills and melee combat. It is well associated with both a shield and a swift hand (dagger).
The weapon itself is a reading weapon (Bear category). This means that any passive equipment for the bear that you have collected from the red skill tree (the path of the bear) will increase the performance of this spear even more.
You can use Gungnir in just about any build with your Eivor. In situations where distance is the key, this weapon will give you a nice advantage. However, it takes some time to learn to play with it. It is not an ordinary spear. To take full advantage of its advantage (the extra distance), you will need a little time and practice.
Dual purpose spears would be great. If not for performance, at least for looks. Remember the fight against Draugr hem earlier in history? I would love to have his two spears …
The sad part is that you would have already completed almost everything the game has to offer by the time you can get this spear. The end of the game is always ahead of you, however. Surely you have some special bosses to defeat, artifacts and mysteries to uncover and mighty Zealots to defeat from the Order of the Ancients. Let’s not forget that there is a whole Season pass ahead of you with two story expansions and more!
